Mary Van Pelt is a human rights activist, her focus is sustainable and meaningful employment for people with psychiatric disabilities.
Mary Elizabeth Van Pelt was born near the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains in East Tennessee during the same week that Rosa Parks refused to give her seat to a white man on a bus in Montgomery, Alabama—December 1955. Mary is a Psychiatric Survivor and Human Rights Activist, advocating for sustainable and meaningful employment for people with psychiatric disabilities. She holds a BA in Spanish from Adams State College. The San Luis Valley of Southern Colorado is her home. Her e-mail address is mary@insilenceispeak.com
